The first thing to say is that, unlike the other walks, this one is not intended to be circular - it's one-way into Cambridge with the option of walking back along the (mostly!) same route but also getting the bus. The Wellbeing Walk element will end when we get to Castle Mound.
The walk takes a little under two hours at a relatively mild pace. It's also straightforward and well-signposted, so it's difficult to get lost.
The walk starts at the Hotel at 10:30 (or 15 minutes earlier if you want to meet outside the Octagon and walk over), and then we cross the A14 via the bridge, cross the local road, and then walk down to the Oakington/ Dry Drayton roundabout. We then cross over and walk down the single-carriageway road (adjacent to the A14) towards Girton to the end, and then back across the A14 to join up with Huntingdon Road just before Girton College.
The walk into Cambridge from there is along Huntingdon Road straight up to Castle Mound.
The whole walk is on tarmac roads/ pathways, with an elevation gain of around 54m (particularly when crossing roads via bridges and climbing the hill at the end). Bring water, sun (or general weather!) protection if necessary, and comfortable walking shoes.
The total distance is just under 10km.
Regarding getting back, busses from Cambridge (Citi 5) are about hourly and cost about £5 for a day rider (less if you get a one-way or if a special offer is on). Walking back, if you walk straight along Huntingdon Road, you get to the Dry Drayton roundabout, cross the A14 to the Dry Drayton/ Oakington roundabout, and then back along the local road to the bridge into the village.
