This is quite a long, two-hour-plus walk up across the new footbridge to Longstanton and then back down through Oakington and into Bar Hill via the local road.
This walk is quite long, starts at the Hotel and takes you to the outskirts of Longstanton, back through Oakington (including walking on the main road), and then along the new local road to re-enter the village in the hotel.
This walk starts at the Hotel in Bar Hill. We head out across the footbridge, crossing the road at the lights, and then following the footpath/ right of way by the fields towards Longstanton.
You cross the new footbridge and continue on into the Wilsons Road in Longstanton with a quick visit to St Michael’s Church, Longstanton (note that this church is usually closed; we were very lucky to find it accessible!)
We then carry on across the old road towards Oakington, passing the White Horse pub, back along the main road to the local road, and then back into Bar Hill.
Generally, the walk is long but relatively level and uncomplicated; however, there is no footpath between Oakington and the local road leading into Bar Hill. This bit is walked on the road itself (causing traffic to slow and actively have to avoid walkers). This part of the route makes the entire route difficult to recommend if walking with small children.
